Tonsillectomy is not enough to treat "to sleep." Resources sleep apnea surgery tend to react patients, not those on other treatments, surgery is often the last resort.

The correct term for this operation is called uvulopalatopharyngoplasty, removes all or part of the uvula, soft palate, tonsils, adenoids and pharynx. Their success rate is 50%. It's basically throwing a coin.

Tonsillectomy might work if enlarge them. The same with the other elements I mentioned above. The enlarged tissue (s) in general, to obstruct the airway during sleep, especially when you lie on your back.

I would recommend a second opinion and see if your doctor recommends a sleep study done among you. Also check whether your insurance is covered.

Generally, sleep apnea can be solved with a CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) with diet and treatment. It can significantly improve sleep.

Good luck and dream of a good night!

Faith really does not "cure" sleep apnea. Yesterday I had a tonsillectomy, and I am sad. Be prepared for the pain!
